The Art of: Mickie Mueller

Time for another Art feature! One of my favourite artists, Mickie Mueller. I am in love with the feel of her paintings and of the amount of love and thought she puts into every piece. If I had the money, pagan paintings of her would cover every inch of my house ;) They show the way I feel about nature, paganism and witchcraft. Mickie's artwork inspires me to search, to look beyond what we see every day. Everytime I hit a rut in my craft, Mickie's inspirational art urges me to move forward. Please enjoy a few of my favourite pieces my Mickie Mueller!

Voice of the Trees Oracle - Back design

So far Mickie Mueller has done the art for three Oracle decks. The Well Worn Path and the Hidden Path, both in collaboration with Raven Grimassi. Her last Oracle deck is the Voice of the Trees oracle. This is her first solo project and boy, did she go all out. The deck is an Ogham deck and in the accompanied book she writes how she took a little piece of each tree and blended that into her paints as she painted each card. So even though you're holding paper, you're still holding a tiny piece of the tree in your hands.

For more on Mickie Mueller, check out her website, or better yet, her blog for all updates! She also has an etsy shop!

Faerie Fashion Feature - Organic Armor

For those of you who follow me on Deviantart the term could sound familiar. Castlefest. It's coming, and I can't wait. Castlefest is the biggest, most awesome, most fun fantasy/pagan/faerie festival we have here in the Netherlands. Sure, Elf Fantasy Fair takes the credit, but Castlefest is so much better! Should you ever be in the Netherlands in the beginning of August, be sure to check it out! Yes, it is still a longs way away, but trust me, when you show up in costume every year, you want to start early. We have some crafting to do! So me, my fiance and my very best friend always go together, usually dressed in similar costumes. (last year was Steampunk, for pictures, check out my Deviantart gallery) So this year we decided to go Swirly Whirly Pagan. It's a real theme... trust us... *looks innocently* We started looking for inspiration and stumbled upon the creations of Organic Armor. We were all totally blown away, such beautiful, magical pieces and such craftsmanship! I'm so jealous, I really wish I had the skills and the patience to make the stuff that they make. So, without further ado, I give you the magical makings of Organic Armor!

The back of their amazing Greenwoman Vest, it looks like the world tree, adorned with gemstones.

This is the front of the Greenwoman Vest, I love the open sides!

Karnaya Helmet, armguards and necklace, the swirls and patterns are so intricate, it's rediculous...

Greenman Breastplate, I just can't get over the use of colour and the shimmering stones.

They also make smaller pieces, like circlets and bracelets which are just as lovely and magical. They're currently working on a shop, so keep on eye on their website!

Faerie Fashion Feature - Ocean Faerie

Getting her Venus on by
Travellyr on Deviantart

Time for another Faerie Feature, this time on how to let out your inner Ocean Faerie! Get in touch with the tranquility of the ocean by wearing the colours of the ocean; blues, whites, soft purples and bright bluegreens. Those are the favourite colours of an Ocean Faerie! Breezy, flowing, waving clothing that dance freely on the wind. And of course, layers, layers, layers... Or, if you're really adventurous, take some fishing nets and turn them into an awesome vest/dress!

Of course your makeup has to match your outfit, so dramatic eyes in ocean blue and seaweed green combined with soft pink pearl gloss. How enchanting!

Next up; hair. Long, waving locks remind us of days spent swimming in the open sea, especially if you don't spend a lot of time getting the tangles out ;) But, for those of us with short and/or straight hair, there are of course some options; accessorize! Everything with shells is good, combined with blues, whites, greens and purples. Ribbons braided into your hair is a very whimsical touch to a simple do, or you could take it up a notch with these fascinators, tiara's and hairsticks!

Ocean Faeries are real scavengers, using everything that washes up on the shore to make their little trinkets and jewelry. Of course shells are something that every Ocean Faerie has to have in her jewelry collection, but also think of seaglass, wood, fishing nets and a sea star. And of course fibers and ribbons in the ocean colours!

So go to the beach, look for hidden treasures and let out your inner Ocean Faerie!
